Alberto GIACOMETTI
Switzerland

(1901 - 1966)
Giacometti was one of the foremost sculptors of the 20th century. His father and brother were also both artists. After studying in Geneva he went to Paris where at first he joined the surrealists but he arrived finally at his characteristic 'thin man' style elongated bronzes. His etchings and lithographs, particularly of aspects of his studio and of standing male and female figures, all executed in black and white are instantly distinguishable and have become highly sought after.
