born Alexander Zuckermann in Mariupol, Ukraine) was a Russian dancer, choreographer and teacher. He was one of the most innovative solo dancers in the first half of the 20th century, and he and his wife Clotilde von Derp Sakharoff developed a distinctive form of dance called abstract pantomime. Sakharoff designed and choreographed the couple's dances. After World War II, they established a dance school in Rome.
