Jean HEY - MAITRE de MOULINS
France

(15th-16th Century - )
Jean Hey - The anonymous Maître de Moulins (sometimes known as the Maître des Bourbons) was one of the great masters of medieval French art. He worked in the Bourbonnais between 1480 and 1500. The major work of the Maître de Moulins is the triptych in the cathedral of Moulins. Attempts have been made to identify the Maître de Moulins with the artist Jean Perréal, with one of Perréal's pupils, Jehan le Peintre, and with the Flemish artist Jan Hey. There is certainly a Flemish influence in his work, which is inspired by the late manner of Hugo van der Goes.
